Brazilian artists Marcos Saboya and Gualter Pupo used 250,000 books to create a maze called "aMAZEme" at the Royal Festival Hall in London as part of the Southbank Centre's Festival of the World. It will be on display until August 25, 2012.
It's a pretty cool maze, and I wonder how long it took them to install the maze. The only other information I found was that the maze was inspired by Argentinian writer and educator J.L. Borges, and was created in the shape of Borges fingerprint. The maze covers an area of 500 square metres, or approximately 5382 square feet, and sections stand up as high as 2.5 meters, or approximately 8 feet. Quotes from book sare projected onto the maze walls, and there is also accompanying audio.

The Met Gala and The James Beard Awards
New York was the site of two very different red carpets on Monday night - the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of the Arts and the James Beard Awards at Lincoln Center. It's rather amusing to compare the two red carpets:

The Met Gala is usually referred to as fashion's Oscars, and there are some jaw-dropping dresses on the red carpet (both good and bad). Highlights for me include Beyonce's Givenchy Haute Couture dress, Cary Mulligan's Prada paillette dress, and Nina Dobrev's dramatic Donna Karan.
As for Jessica Biel, I didn't like the dress, but nice arm candy. My favorite couple, though, is Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. They look so adorable together!
But what was up with Kirsten Dunst and Elizabeth Banks? Those dresses are just ugly.
At the James Beard red carpet, the fashions weren't as dramatic, and in comparison to the Met Gala a bit nerdy, but it's nice to see the chefs out of their whites. Yay for Top Chef: Texas winner Paul Qui winning Best Chef Southwest. Plus it's nice to see another Top Chef: Texas favorite Ed Lee again!

Thirteen-Year-Old Finds Mistake at the Met
A thirteen-year-old boy, Benjamin Coady, found a mistake at one of the maps of the Byzantine Empire at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (more colloquially known as the Met).
