The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge named their baby boy George Alexander Louis. He will officially be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
As expected, they went with very traditional names. No Apple or Blue Ivy or North here.

Prince of Cambridge
Unless you have been living under a rock, you would know that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had their baby boy yesterday. The Prince of Cambridge, who is not yet named, was born at 4:24 p.m. local time at St. Mary's Hospital in London. He was 8 pounds 6 ounces. The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly had about 14 hours of labor before delivering naturally.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their son home today. They posed for photographers and answered questions on the same steps where Princess Diana and Prince Charles introduced William to the world 31 years ago.
William stated that his son had "a good pair of lungs on him," and that he was "a big boy - he's quite heavy." He also stated that his son had his mother's looks, to which Kate replied, "No, no, no." William also joked that the baby "has way more than me, thank God." Kate added that the whole experience was very emotional. She said, "It's a moment that any parent having just given birth will know what this feeling feels like." She also revealed that William has changed his first diaper.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden Married American Financier Chris O'Neill
Princess Madeleine of Sweden, the third child of King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia, married American financier Chris O'Neill in a lavish royal wedding this past Saturday, June 8th.
The wedding ceremony took place at Stockholm's Royal Chapel, and then the newlyweds took a carriage ride to the harbour where they boarded a boat to take them across the water to Drottningholm Palace, where a dinner and dance reception were held for 350 guests. The guests included many members of the European royal family, such as Prince Edward and Countess of Wessex from Great Britain, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary from Denmark, Princes Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit from Norway, and Princess Charlene from Monaco.
Princess Madeleine wore a beautiful gown custom designed by Valentino Garavani. The gown was "pleated silk organza with appliquéd ivory-hued Chantilly lace. The upper section of the bodice was lace with a deep-cut back. Narrow vertical pleats opened up from the accentuated waist, above the wide skirt, which ends with a four-metre-long train." She also wore a stunning silk organza veil "edged with tulle scatted with point d'esprit dots and small Chantilly lace orange blossom." Her tiara was also decorated with sprigs of orange blossoms.
The groom Chris O'Neill is an American financier and a partner with the hedge fund Noster Capital. He was born in London and is the son of the late investment banker Paul O'Neill and Eva O'Neill. His mother Eva is a German socialite and philanthropist who is friendly with royalty, such as Prince Charles. Chris was educated in a boarding school in Switzerland before coming to the United States to attend Boston University and Columbia Business School. Chris and Madeleine met in New York through mutual friends.
The bride's sister, Crown Princess Victoria, looked beautiful in "a greige rosé dress made from hand-dyed silk organza with layers of tulle in three shades, silk threads, Lurex threads, pearls and Swarovski crystals in amethyst and pale grey opal" designed by Elie Saab. The most adorable guest is Victoria's daughter and Madeleine's niece, Princess Estelle, who wore a cute white dress and even had her own miniature chair at the wedding ceremony. I am just impressed a child that young behaved so well through the whole ceremony.

Royal Baby
A new royal baby is coming! The Palace issued a statement today announcing that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is expecting her first baby.
Unfortunately the Duchess has been admitted into the hospital for Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which is extreme nausea and vomiting that occurs during the pregnancy. That sounds absolutely awful, and hopefully she will recover soon. Regular morning sickness is bad enough, let alone this extreme version that can be dangerous.
If you think the hoopla around their wedding was crazy enough, this will most likely be worse, especially since it will be stretched out over several months. Best wishes to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!
ETA: There are already many congratulations and reactions to the news from dignitaries, celebrities, and other people, including President Obama and the First Lady, Prime Minister David Cameron, I thought the funniest reaction is this Twitter account @RoyalFoetus. My favorite tweet so far: CURRENT STATUS: DARK IN HERE, WILL UPDATE.

Luxembourg Royal Wedding
Luxembourg, the tiny European nation smaller than Rhode Island, celebrated the wedding of heir apparent Prince Guillaume to Belgian Countess Stephanie de Lannoy this past weekend. Guillaume was the last bachelor heir apparent in Europe. Stephanie de Lannoy is a member of Belgian nobility and the daughter of Count Philippe de Lannoy and Countess Alix della Faille de Leverghem. Sadly, the bride's mother, Counter Alix, passed away this past August after suffering a stroke. Stephanie studied languages at the University of Lovaina and is fluent in German, French and Russian.
The couple had stated in an interview that they met about eight years ago in Germany, lost touch for several years, then met again in 2009 and started dating over a year ago. They announced their engagement this past April.
On Friday they held a civil ceremony at Luxembourg City Hall, and on Saturday a religious service at the Our Lady of Luxembourg Cathedral that was conducted in a mixture of French, German and Luxembourgish. There was also a moment of silence for the bride's mother. For the religious ceremony, Stephanie wore a gorgeous lace Elie Saab gown with a 13-feet-long wedding train, an ivory silk tulle veil, and a tiara from the Lannoy family that had been worn by her sister and sisters-in-law at their weddings.
The wedding banquet was attended by 800 people and catered by Bocuse d’Or-winning chef Lea Linster, who is also from Luxembourg. Her menu included Riesling-marinated pork and veal pate, lobster in gelee consomme, and sea bass in salted crust and thyme stuffing. The desserts included Madeleine cakes, choux a la creme pastries, and creme brulee. Many other European royals attended, including the Earl and Countess of Wessex from England, Prince Frederik and his wife Mary from Denmark, Norway's Prince Haakon and his wife Mette-Marit, the Spanish Prince Felipe and his wife Letizia, the Netherland's Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima, and Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Prince Daniel.
Luxembourg is a founding member of the European Union with a population of just over 500,000. It has continued to prosper despite the tough economic time in Europe, and is known as a financial center. It is also home to the world’s largest steel manufacturer, and boasts the second-highest gross domestic product per capita in the world, more than $80,000. It has three official languages: French, German, and Luxembourgish. The current Grand Duke of Luxembourg is Guillaume's father, Henri, who is extremely popular. His wife is Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, who hails from Havana, Cuba. They got married in February 1981, and together they have five children.

The Wedding of King of Bhutan
As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, the Kong of Bhutan got married today.

The outfits were so beautiful, and they look very happy. She looks more nervous than he does, which is definitely understandable. I love all the colors - so bright and vibrant. The party is supposed to last three days, which is awesome.

King of Bhutan Gets Married
The King of Bhutan is getting married on Thursday. Did you know Bhutan has a king? Did you know there's a country named Bhutan? I only knew that it's a small country in Asia. It turns out that it's located between China and India in the eastern end of the Himalayas.
King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is 31 years old and was crowned in 2008. He studied abroad in the US and UK, eventually graduating from Oxford. According to news reports, he is widely popular not just in Bhutan, but all over Asia.
He is engaged to a woman 10 years his junior, Jetsun Pema, who is a pilot's daughter. She was educated at elite schools in India and the UK. She is fluent in the native language of Bhutan, Hindi, and English. She's also very beautiful. Publish Post

I had written before about Cayetana, the 85-year-old Duchess of Alba, who was getting married to a man 24 years her junior, Alfonso Diez.

Her dress was very pretty, but her face still looks so odd. They do look happy, though. She even danced flamenco barefoot when she and her groom walked out of the ceremony.

Cayetana
Still hunkering down for the hurricane. To completely change the subject, let's talk about Spanish royal the Duchess of Alba, more colloquially known as Cayetana. She is one of Spain's most famous and most wealthy aristrocrats, has more titles than any noble on Earth, according to the Guinness Book of Records, and has more estates than the Queen of England. She is the current head of the 539-year-old House of Alba. She is also 85 years old and in October will be married to a man 24 years her junior, 61-year-old Alfonso Diez Carabantes. Her groom comes from much humbler background - he is a civil servant.
Cayetana has had a colorful life. Her full name is Maria del Rosario Cayetana Alfonsa Victoria Eugenia Francisca Fitz-James Stuart y de Silva. She is descended from King James II of England. She has outlived two husbands, and has six children. According to reports, some of her children were vehemently opposed to her current marriage until she decided to split up her vast wealth in advance, and Alfonso Diez had also formally renounced any claim to her wealth.
She is apparently quite a fixture in Spanish and European noble and social scenes, and had recently had plastic surgery. You can see some pictures and read more stuff about her here:
