Oxygen has been airing a reality show this summer called the Glee Project. The winner gets a seven-episode stint on Glee during this upcoming season 3. The finale of the Glee Project was Sunday night. There were four finalists: Alex, Lindsay, Damian, and Samuel.
There was a twist ending - there were two winners! Both Damian and Samuel won seven-episode stints on Glee, and the other two finalists, Alex and Lindsay, each got a two-episode stints. Ryan Murphy is really stocking the cast to prepare for the eventual departures of current stars. I think using the kids from the Glee Project is not a bad idea - these kids have been through Glee boot camp, if you will, and the Glee insiders already know their strengths and weaknesses. None of these kids can match the current stars, yet, but if they bring them in as underclassmen, it would make sense for them to develop over the years (assuming they last that long).
One of the patterns that I noticed throughout the Glee Project is that they are quick to get rid of people who would be difficult to work with, or put them in the bottom three. It makes sense that considering the long hours people work on Glee, they don't want to deal with difficult people.
I can't wait to see how Ryan Murphy and Co. incorporate these characters and how they interact with the current stars.
